Parents! I received some exciting news to share with ALL in the homeschooling community!
A few years ago Contemporary Martial Arts offered Homeschool PE classes that were quite popular and NOW THEY ARE COMING BACK!!!
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
I recently met with Chuck Cawthorn, owner of Contemporary Martial Arts in Hartwell (located at 99 Nancy Drive in Hartwell) and toured the facilities and chatted about what they would like to offer the homeschooling community. I am proud to announce we have a free SELF DEFENSE class available to you and your kids on February 28th!!
Feb 28th FREE Self Defense Class times are:
K-2nd: 11-11:30am
3rd-8th grade: 11:30am-12:15pm
High School: 12:15-1:00pm
This class can be attended by anyone that is homeschooling. All you need to do is sign up on the FB event page for each class. To sign up, please comment with your child's ages that will be attending so I can record it on my spreadsheet and then I will comment below it that I have you down (which will mean you are confirmed)

Here's a little bit about what you'll learn:
Intro To Self Defense Class for Homeschool Parents and Students
• Age-appropriate self defense
• Basic striking (punching, knees, kicks)
• Ground/Grappling fundamentals (learn how to get up if someone has you pinned down, etc)
This self-defense class will be a great chance for parents and children to meet Chuck, participate in a class, and ask any questions that you may have! This will also allow you and your children the opportunity to see if you'd like to participate further in any Homeschool PE class and/or Summer Camp activities.
(Not everyone is designed for team sports for PE, many children like to participate in an individual sport instead)
A little bit about Contemporary Martial Arts:
Chuck and Carolina opened Contemporary Martial Arts, Inc. in 1996. Along with Carolina’s 2 children, Dave Martin and Tanya Martin(now Mrs. Tanya Hudson!), Chuck and Carolina laid down the foundation for what is now considered one of the best, most complete martial arts’ curriculum for kids/adults in the Southeast.
Competing in sport karate, grappling and full contact kickboxing tournaments, CMA was raising eyebrows from their very first tournament! While competing in the SC Sport Karate Circuit, CMA students won over DOZENS SC STATE TITLES in EVERY DIVISION FROM WHITE BELT TO BLACK BELT before the SC Sport Karate Circuit faded away.
CMA students won STATE TITLES in: freestyle forms, traditional forms, musical forms, weapon forms, musical weapon forms, and point sparring! It only took 3 short years for Contemporary Martial Arts, Inc.(CMA) to be ranked by NBL/SKIL as one of the TOP 25 SPORT KARATE SCHOOLS IN THE WORLD, coming in at #15! The next 4 years CMA was ranked in the TOP 25 SPORT KARATE SCHOOLS IN THE WORLD as well, and the last year CMA competed in sport karate, we were ranked #12!
During the short time CMA competed in sport karate, we produced well OVER A DOZEN WORLD CHAMPIONS in freestyle forms, traditional forms, musical forms, weapon forms, musical weapon forms, and point sparring.
