About The Publisher: Christina Bell

Adoption

Hi there, my name is Christina Bell and I am the MacKid Publisher for Franklin/Hart County and my counterpart Amy Velasco is the MacKid Publisher for Elbert County!

I publish an e-newsletter every week, typically on Sunday afternoons that tell you what is going on in our community in the coming weeks as well as share interesting deals and upcoming programs.

I am a mom of three, two girls and one lively boy ages 21, 17 and 8. While my oldest is now employed at Hart County Schools and graduated with her Culinary Diploma from NGTC, my middle child homeschools and is in 11th grade and dual enrolled at NGTC for her Associates in Early Childhood Education. My youngest attended North Hart Elementary for K and 1st grade and then decided he wanted to homeschool. He's now in 3rd grade.

When he decided to homeschool, I knew I would have to jump in feet first and plan field trips since I wasn't able to find a co-op at the time that did local field trips. So that started our journey of planning once a month (sometimes twice) field trips as well as the first Friday homeschool skate at T&S in Canon. My goal is to keep as many of the field trips as local as possible. We are not a co-op, we are an inclusive group that is open to the public. Why? Because many are stepping into homeschooling and finding their way through it and need to just be able to join in when possible. Sometimes wait lists for co-ops are long and then you find your kids aren't making many friends in them too. So we aim to have our field trips and programs be open to all children no matter what co-op they are in.

I wear a lot of hats, I help my other half, Jason Cleveland, with his business, Cleveland's Auto and Diesel, I'm a birth doula in the community, co-founder of Mom Matters,  I work from home for a non profit in South Carolina for the past 11 years and around Hartwell I volunteer as a community event organizer. I co-organized the Share the Warmth Coat Drive and the Hart County First Responders Family Fun Day.

I stay busy and would love your help by sharing any events you know coming up in the events calendar and hitting the submit button.
